Mini Truckin started back the 90s. The idea of lowering trucks came from the lowrider cars. When mini trucking first started there were no air suspension or anything of that nature .To get lower people would cut their coil springs in the front and take out all but one leaf spring.  For the rear of the truck ,usually they would run real wide 15 inch rims with a small tire around them. So that went on until about 1998-99 then air suspension came out . Air suspension takes the place of all your springs. With the airbag in place of the coil spring in the front allows the front to go all the way down until you hit the body on the tire or the frame would lay on the ground .

In the rear of the truck they would take the shocks out and weld brackets on the axle to mount the air bags on, then they would c-notch the frame so it allows the axle to tuck up in the frame . Then about 2000 people started body drop their trucks. This means the body sits lower than the frame. There are two main ways to do a body drop . The first way is called a ‘traditional body drop’ which means you would cut the floor out of the truck and raise it 2 to 5 inches. That way of a body drop is pretty easy. The only con is that you lose head room. The second way is called a ‘stock floor body drop’ which means you would actually build a whole custom frame to fit under the body. It’s a lot more fabrication but it’s the overall best way.

So as time went on people started to realize they could do these same things to a full-size truck and SUV’s. So, now all types of vehicles can be a “Mini.”
