Federal health officials specifically warned on Tuesday that the coronavirus will most certainly spread to the United States.“It’s not so much of a question of if this will happen anymore but rather more of a question of exactly when this will happen,” said Dr. Nancy Messonnier. She said that cities and towns should prepare for “Social Distancing Measures,” like dividing classes or closing schools all together. As of Tuesday, the United States has just 57 cases, 40 of them connected to the Diamond Princess, the cruise ship overwhelmed by the coronavirus after it docked in Japan.

Coronavirus in the US

The corona virus started in China because Chinese residents were eating wild animals that had been sick. Since the uproar in China the virus has spread to many other countries, such as the United States. The virus was spread by infected people flying into the US causing others to become ill and so far there are over 100 US citizens affected by the disease with 6 deaths. But where exactly are the US infections? The Virus has been found in the US states of Washington, California, Oregon, Arizona, Texas, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois, Florida, New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. Although the disease can be frightening, Americans should not worry too much. Scientists and doctors are working very hard to contain the sickness and find a cure. Even though the sickness has killed 6 people, the flu that we deal with almost annually is a much larger threat. The flu that we are used to hospitalized 280,000 people and killed 16,000 people in 2019. With that in mind the coronavirus is not that big of a problem and Americans should not be worried.
