Even though L.A. Firefighters did a great job fighting against the fires, more fires kept popping up and taking hundreds of homes. The Hillside fire destroyed dozens of homes and forced the evacuation of 1,300 people. That was about the same time that the bush fire sparked in Ventura County and exploded 4,000 acres of land in about 3 hours. The Maria fire Ignited at about 6:15p.m. and rapidly started spreading westwards. County officials issued a mandatory evacuation for about 7,000 residents. More than 400 firefighters were fighting fires and protecting homes.
