Maywood Music Teacher Arrested For Hitting Student

A music teacher who taught at a Maywood High School in Maywood California was arrested Friday after a video showed him fighting with a student during class. Marston Riley was taken into custody on suspicion of child abuse and causing great bodily injury on a child. His bail was set at $50,000. The teacher punched the student before the fight escalated. The teacher was seen hitting him in the head with a cellphone. It all started because the teacher asked the student to leave and the student refused because he wasn’t wearing right uniform. The student started cussing and yelling racist things at the teacher and threw a basketball at him. A few students stuck up for the teacher and said he was a nice teacher. The student was a 14 year old boy who had moderate injuries and was released from the hospital. Cecilia Diaz Jimenez a person Maywood started the fundraiser on Saturday with an initial goal of $50,000. A GoFundMe page has raised $90,960 by Tuesday afternoon for Marston. Riley’s arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 30 at the L.A. County Metropolitan Courthouse.
